I've
been an avid trophy striper fishermen for over 30
years, and currently hold the Millerton Lake record
of 50.3 lbs. taken in 1998, as well as 10+ fish
of 30 pounds or better. As a trophy-chaser I've
always had a real interest in the cutting edge development
of new striper lures. I felt that someday, someone
would eventually put "all the pieces of the
puzzle" together to produce a lure with great
action on top, a good swimming action when "slow
rolled" or ripped under the water, life-like
finish, along with the reliable heavy duty quality
necessary to handle monster linesides. I think Allen
Borden has created lures that capture these qualities
better than anything currently on the market.
After field testing both the Gladiator and the new
Titan at both San Luis Reservoir and Millerton for
the past year, I have personally caught over 100
fish to 21 pounds on the lures. Casting the baits
or trolling them have both produced some impressive
results. There are stripers in Millerton well over
60 pounds, and you can bet I will be throwing the
new 6" and 8" Titan's there this spring,
looking for a new lake record. I almost hate to
tell you about the baits, because most striper chasers,
including me, give out very little information,
but I will tell you that I would personally recommend
putting some Gladiators and Titans in your tackle
box for your next striper trip. RG |
