BASS ELITE SERIES PRO GRANT GOLDBECK EXPLAINS
WHY ABT’S NEW LURES ARE HIS “GO-TO” BAITS

AHWAHNEE, Calif., April 13, 2011 – A rising star on the BASS Elite Series trail, Grant Goldbeck is extremely particular when it comes to lure selection. He’s keenly aware that choosing the right baits can mean all the difference in the world in the competitive angling arena. Take a peak inside Grant’s tackle boxes and you’ll see plenty of new ABT “Next Generation” swimbaits and crankbaits front and center. According to Goldbeck, the action and appearance of ABT’s “Next Generation” Lures are the most realistic he’s ever encountered.
“The new ABT jointed hardbaits are incredible,” said Goldbeck. “The way they look and swim, you’d be hard-pressed to tell these lures from live offerings. In fact, the new Banshee Swimbait is so life-like, whenever I pick one up, I keep expecting it to flop out of my hands.”
ABT’s “Next Generation” baits are the latest designs of Allen Borden, the renowned lure-maker that developed the King Shad and other hot-sellers for Strike King before forming his own company in 2000.
Goldbeck started using Borden’s Banshee Swimbaits at the beginning of this season, and he’s already thrilled with the results. “They’ve become my go-to’ baits – the lures I reach for when I really need to produce,” noted Goldbeck. “The combination of the detailed ‘natural image transfer’ patterns and the amazing swimming action makes the Banshee hard for bass to resist. I’m also blown away by its versatility. You can fish it fast or slow, down deep or in middle of the water column – even topwater – and you’ll experience the same deadly results.”
Goldbeck is equally impressed with the performance of ABT’s new “X-2” crankbait. “I love the way X-2 gets down in a hurry, hugs the bottom, and swims with a tight wobble,” he said. “The first time I fished one, during pre-tournament practice, I nailed a five-pounder and a six-pounder working it around offshore structure in about 12 feet of water.”
According to Goldbeck, the beauty of ABT’s X-2 crankbait is not only its ability to tempt big bass, but also this lure’s lack of resistance upon retrieve. “After a long day of cranking an ordinary deep-diver back to the boat, I feel a significant amount of fatigue and soreness in my wrist and forearm, but that’s not the case with ABT’s X-2. It’s really incredible – the X-2’s proprietary design takes all the hard work out of crankbait fishing.
Goldbeck anticipates “using the heck” out of ABT’s “Next Generation” crankbaits and swimbaits on the tour this year. “There isn’t a single body of water on the Elite Series schedule where I won’t be putting these lures to work – they’re that versatile and effective,” he said.

“Next Generation” Versatility

Get Crankin’

Get Crankin’

ABT’s “X-2” deep-diving crankbaits are not only much easier to retrieve than traditional crankbaits, they also get down to the strike zone faster. That means your lure will spend more time in productive water. And that translates into more bass in the livewell. Add some of these hot new baits to your freshwater fishing arsenal.

Hard Baits - No Stiffs

Hard Baits - No Stiffs

Think a hard-bodied swimbait can’t replicate the natural swimming motion of a real forage fish?  Think again. ABT’s “Next Generation” jointed swimbaits are specially engineered to undulate enticingly through the water upon retrieve – just like a live shad or minnow. It’s a presentation oversized bass can’t resist.
